I always wanted to put a birdhouse in our backyard. Finally, last summer, we bought a birdhouse and one of my daughters painted the birdhouse in blue color. I asked her why she chose blue, and she said because our house is blue. This is the silly story about the birdhouse color. Then we put the birdhouse near our vegetable garden, and I had been waiting to see if any birds are using it. After some time, I saw a chickadee and a house wren were going in and out a few times, but the chickadee did not make her nest.
Finally, the house wren made a nest. I had lots of fun watching her all the time. She laid eight eggs and all of them hatched. After hatching, she was so busy feeding them, going around and bringing some small insects to her babies. Whenever she brought food, they all made a happy noise, and other times they were so quiet.
After some time, they grew up and flew away. I can see the birdhouse from our kitchen window, so I had all the fun watching them. This Christmas, I got another birdhouse as a gift from one of my daughters. Now I am eagerly waiting for the summer to place it in our backyard.
