Ingredients
- Peerkankai ————————- 1
- Raw peanuts ———————- 1/3 cup
- Split green gram —————- 1/3 cup
- Turmeric powder ————— 1/4 tsp
- For Grinding
- Grated coconut ————- 1/4 cup
- Garlic cloves —————– 2
- Cumin seeds —————– 1/2 tsp
- Green chilies —————– 2
- For seasoning
- Cumin seeds —————– 1/4 tsp
- Mustard seeds ————— 1/4 tsp
- Dry chilies ——————— 4
- Curry leaf ———————– 1 spring
How to make
- Wash and remove the skin from the peerkankai (See the peerkankai chutney recipe for making chutney from the skin)
- Dice the peerkankai into small pieces
- In a pressure cooker add the diced peerkankai, peanuts, split green gram, turmeric powder, salt and little water
- Place the cooker on the stove in medium heat
- Wait for two whistles and switch off the stove
- In the meantime, grind all the things in the grinding list with little water using a mixer / blender.
- Make a medium fine paste
- Once the pressure is released, open the cooker and pour the paste into the cooker
- Cook for 5 more minutes in medium heat without closing the lid
- Now do the seasoning
- In a small pan add oil and keep in medium heat
- Add the mustard seeds and once it crackles, add the cumin seeds, dry chilies and curry leaf
- Pour this into the peerkankai kootu
- Now it should be ready to serve
