
This is the simplest way of making the cabbage paruppu usili. It is a healthy side dish with vegetable and protein, which can be made in 10 minutes. Please refer the link for making the paruppu usili idlys.
Ingredients
- Grated Cabbage ——————————- 2 cups
- Paruppu usili idlys ————————— 2
- Grated coconut ——————————— 1/4 cup
- Turmeric powder —————————– 1/8 tsp
- Chili powder ————————————- 1/4 tsp
- Cooking oil —————————————- 2 tbsp
- Salt to taste

For tempering
- Mustard seeds —————————- 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds ——————————- 1/2 tsp
- Curry leaf ————————————- 1 spring
- Cooking oil ———————————- 1 tbsp
How to crumble the paruppu idly
- If you are using frozen paruppu usili idlys, please thaw them to the room temperature before using it (See the link for details)
- Crumble them into small pieces as shown below


How to make
- Heat a heavy bottom pan on medium heat
- Add oil and mustard seeds, once it crackles, add the cumin seeds and curry leaf
- Add the grated cabbage, salt, chili powder and turmeric powder
- Stir fry in medium high heat for 4 to 5 minutes
- Add the crumbled paruppu usili and mix them well
- Cook it for 3 more minutes
- Add the grated coconut and stir for 2 more minutes
- Switch off the stove and now it should be ready to serve
