Banana Podimas

This is a tasty side dish for rice. This side dish has a unique preparation technique, which separates it from most of the other Indian dishes. There is absolutely no spice powders involved! This makes it very simple to make, so try it when have time.

Ingredients

  • Raw banana —————- 2
  • Grated coconut ———– 4 tsp
  • Green chilies ————— 2 (minced)
  • Lemon juice —————- 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste

For Tempering

  • Mustard seeds ———— 1/2 tsp
  • Urad dal ———————- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaf ——————- 1 spring
  • Cooking oil —————– 1 tbsp

How to make

  • In pan cook the raw bananas with water until it becomes tender, about 7 minutes
  • Then take the banana out of the water and wait for it to cool down
  • Once it cools down, peel off the banana skin
  • Now grate the bananas using a grater
  • Place a pan on the store in medium heat
  • Add the oil and the mustard seeds
  • Once it crackles, add the urad dal and curry leaves
  • Now add the grated banana and little salt
  • Stir fry for couple of minutes
  • Then add the grated coconut and mix it well.
  • Cook for one more minute and switch off the stove
  • Now add the lemon juice and mix again
  • Now the tasty banana podimas is ready to serve
