Steamed Banana cake

This is a very healthy sweet, that we can eat without any guilt and so simple to make. All the ingredients are common items from our kitchen. Try it, you will like it.


  • Banana —————————— 3
  • Sooji/Rava ———————— 1/2 cup
  • Powdered jaggery———— 1/2 cup
  • Grated coconut —————- 2 tsp
  • Crushed cardamom ——— 3
  • Cooking oil ———————— 1 tsp
  • Salt ————————————- 1 pinch

How To Make

  • Heat the oil in a pan, add the rava and roast it for three minutes
  • Smash the bananas with hand in a bowl
  • Add the powdered jaggery, grated coconut, cardamom, salt and mix them well
  • Finally add the roasted rava and mix them all well again
  • Boil three cups of water in a steamer pot
  • Grease the steamer plate with oil
  • Pour the banana mixture into the plate and close with lid
  • Cook for about 15 minutes
  • Switch off the stove and take the steamer plate out
  • Now transfer the cake into a serving plate cut it into pieces and enjoy


  • For jaggery, I used Udupi powdered jaggery
