Want to enjoy hummingbirds in your garden? Plant this. Cardinal flowers are truly hummingbird’s favorite plants, and it’s a delight to watch them in our backyard as they happily enjoy the nectar from these stunning blooms. It is a native plant in Minnesota; I love hummingbirds, so a few years ago, one of my best friends suggested planting these, and it truly works all the time as I can see the hummingbirds enjoy them.
The vibrant red of the cardinal flowers adds a joyful splash of color to our outdoor space, creating a beautiful sight that uplifts the spirit. Cardinal plants usually have a single spike and numerous flowers, so the hummingbirds go around and get the nectar from all the flowers; the best part is you can enjoy watching them for more time. These perennial plants thrive in wetland areas, growing up to an impressive four feet tall and offering a lovely contrast in gardens and natural landscapes.
The tubular shape of the flowers is wonderfully designed for the long beaks of hummingbirds, ensuring they have a vital source of food during the warm summer months when these delightful birds are most active. Furthermore, the lush green foliage of the cardinal flower enhances the beauty of any garden, making it an inviting and vibrant place for everyone to enjoy.
