Snow Peas Poriyal

Snow peas are so versatile because you can eat them raw, or add them to salads. In this post, I’m going to make a South Indian style poriyal from snow peas. It pairs really nicely with rice, but you can eat it as a side dish for oats as well.

Ingredients

  • Snow peas ——————- 1 lb
  • Diced onion —————– 1/2
  • Grated coconut ———— 1/4 cup
  • Turmeric powder ——— 1/4 tsp
  • Chili Powder —————–1/4 tsp
  • For Seasoning
  • Cooking oil ——————- 1 tbsp
  • Cumin seeds —————- 1/2 tsp
  • Mustard seeds ————- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves —————– 2 springs

How to make

  • Wash and snip off both ends of snow peas
  • Cut it into small pieces
  • Place a pan on the stove in medium heat
  • Add oil and once it gets hot, add the mustard seeds
  • After the mustard seed crackles, add the cumin seeds and curry leaves
  • Add the cut onions and saute for 2 minutes
  • Now add the snow peas and saute for 5 minutes
  • Add the spices and salt and mix them well
  • After a minute, add the grated coconut and mix it well
  • Cook for two more minutes and switch off the stove
  • It should be ready to serve
