Beets Poriyal With Chickpea

In our home, I often make beets poriyal, most of the time, I add different kinds of dals or peas into it, so it won’t be boring to eat often. This time I added some chickpeas in it, so you will get some protein too. It is a simple and tasty recipe.

Ingredients

  • Beets —————————– 2 (minced)
  • Cooked chickpea ——– 1/2 cup (minced)
  • Grated coconut ———— 1/4 cup
  • Chili powder —————- 1/4 tsp
  • Turmeric powder ——– 1/8 tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For tempering
  • Cooking oil ——————- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds ————- 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds —————- 1/2 tsp
  • Split urad dal —————- 1 tsp
  • Curry leaves —————– 2 spring

How to make

  • In a pan, heat the oil and add mustard seeds
  • Once it crackles, add the cumin seeds, urad dal and curry leaves
  • Mince the beets and chickpeas (I used the chopper to mince)
  • Add the minced beets, chili powder, turmeric powder and salt to the pan
  • Stir fry for around 10 minutes
  • Now add the minced chickpea and mix it well
  • Keep stirring for a minute
  • Then add the grated coconut and mix it well
  • Cook for couple of more minutes and switched off the stove
  • Now it should be ready to serve
