Kadai Mushroom

This is a very delicious side dish for chapati/roti. If you like mushroom you will definitely like this dish. This is a very colorful and flavorful recipe, when you get time give it a try.


  • Mushroom ———————————- 500 gm (sliced)
  • Onion ——————————————- 1 1/2
  • Tomato —————————————- 4 (diced)
  • Red and green bell pepper ——— 1 cup (diced)
  • Ginger garlic paste ——————— 1 tbsp
  • Cashews ————————————— 1/8 cup
  • Whole coriander seeds ————— 1 tsp
  • Cashmere chili —————————- 1 (cut into 2 or 3 pieces)
  • Cooking oil ———————————– 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • For garnishing
    • Cilantro —————————————————– a small bunch (chopped into small pieces)
  • Spice powders
    • Paprika or Cashmere chili powder ——– 1 tsp
    • Coriander powder ———————————— 11/2 tbsp
    • Turmeric powder ————————————– 1 tsp
    • Garam masala ——————————————- 1 tsp

How to make

  • Mince one onion into small pieces and dice the remaining 1/2 onion
  • Soak the cashews in hot water and make a paste
  • Place a heavy bottom pan on the stove in medium heat
  • Add the oil, whole coriander seeds and the chili
  • Add the minced onions and cook until it turns brown
  • Add the ginger garlic paste and stir for little time
  • Add the diced tomato and mix it well
  • Now add salt and the spice powders except the garam masala
  • Cook until the oil oozes out
  • Add the cashew paste, mix it well and cook for two more minutes
  • Add the diced onion, diced peppers and cook for 5 more minutes
  • Add the garam masala and mix well
  • Add the mushrooms, mix it well and cook for about 15 more minutes
  • Switch off the stove and garnish with cilantro
  • Now it is ready to serve
