Swiss Chard Dal Curry

This year we had a lot of Swiss chard in our garden, so I tried to make different kinds of dishes from that. This is another tasty recipe with Swiss chard. This one is a kind of curry so you can pour on top of the rice and enjoy. Maybe you don’t need any other side dish with this. My other recipes with Swiss chard are Swiss chard poriyal and Swiss chard and egg stir-fry.

Ingredients

  • Swiss chard ——————– 1 bunch
  • Moong dal ———————– 1/2 cup
  • Garlic cloves ——————– 2
  • Turmeric powder ———— 1/2 tsp
  • Indian chili powder ——— 1/2 tsp
  • Water ——————————– 2 cups
  • Salt to taste
  • For Seasoning
    • Cumin seeds ————– 1/2 tsp
    • Dry chilies —————— 2
    • Cooking oil —————– 1tbsp

How To Make

  • Wash the swiss chard, discard the big stems and finely chop it
  • Place a pot on medium heat with two cups of water and add the moong dal, garlic cloves and turmeric
  • Cook until the moong dal become tender
  • Now add the chopped swiss chard, salt and chili powder
  • Cook it for about 10 more minutes
  • Now do the seasoning
  • Heat the oil in a pan, then add the cumin seeds and dry chilies
  • Pour this into the Swiss chard curry
  • Now enjoy with your rice
