This is one of the tasty fritters from south Indian cuisine, usually an evening snack. Having this with a cup of tea, makes a perfect combination. Here is the recipe.

Ingredients

  • Channa dal ——————- 1 1/2 cup
  • Dry red chilies ————– 4
  • Ginger ————————— 2″ size (grated)
  • Red onion ——————— 1/2 (chopped)
  • Green chilies —————- 2 (finely chopped)
  • Fennel seeds —————- 1/2 tsp
  • Curry leaves —————— 4 springs (finely chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • Enough oil to fry

P.S.: If you are using banana flower for the first time, please refer this link for cleaning and cutting tips.

How To Make

  • Soak the channa dal and dry chilies for about four hours
  • From the soaked channa dal, take a handful of it and keep it aside
  • Now grind the remaining channa dal coarsely (no need to add water while grinding)
  • In a wide bowl mix all the ingredients except the oil
  • Make little thick patties from the mix
  • Heat the oil in a frying pan and fry the patties
  • Turn the patties to cook both sides evenly (totally it will take five to six minutes fry)
