Our Flowers: Verbascum/Mullein Plants

I have been thinking of posting about the perennial plants in our garden for a while. Here is the first one from the list. I will be posting other plants in the upcoming posts. If you live in Minnesota and you are a beginner to gardening, these posts may be helpful to determine which plants you want to grow in this climate.

Verbascum plants have very attractive flower spikes in the shades of peach, rose, yellow and baby pink. This plant will flower in the very first year itself. Actually it can blossom twice; it blooms in the spring and as the floret dries, you can cut the spikes and the next one will come right behind it and start blooming again. It is one of my favorite flowering plants in our garden. I started this plant from seeds, then every year it comes back and the flowers are so pleasant and beautiful.
