Canned Tuna Stir-Fry

Mostly this tasty dish is prepared from fresh tuna in our hometown, but in Minnesota we don’t get it fresh. But we get frozen tuna and canned tuna. I used canned tuna in this recipe. You can eat this as side dish for rice or stuffing for flour tortilla or to make bread sandwich.

Ingredients

  • Tuna ——————————————— 2 cans
  • Red Onion ———————————— 1/2 (cut it into small cubes)
  • Crushed ginger and garlic ——— 1 tsp
  • Grated coconut ————————— 1/4 cup
  • Fennel seeds ——————————- 1/2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds ——————————- 1/2 tsp
  • Chili powder ——————————- 1/2 tsp
  • Coriander powder ———————- 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder ———————— 1/4 tsp
  • Ground pepper —————————–1/2 tsp
  • Cilantro —————————————- a few
  • Lemon juice ——————————— 1 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Cooking oil ———————————– 1 tbsp

How To make

  • Pour the tuna in a strainer and give it a quick rinse with running water
  • Heat a pan with oil on medium heat
  • Then add the fennel seeds and cumin seeds, wait few seconds
  • Then add the cut onions, crushed ginger and garlic and a little salt
  • Stir for a few minutes until the onion is cooked
  • Now add all the spice powders and mix it well
  • Then add the tuna and keep stirring
  • After a minute add the grated coconut and stir it for couple of minutes
  • Finally add the lemon juice and switch off the stove
  • Garnish with cilantro and enjoy

Notes:

  • Add less salt, because the canned fish is already cooked with salt
