Mostly this tasty dish is prepared from fresh tuna in our hometown, but in Minnesota we don’t get it fresh. But we get frozen tuna and canned tuna. I used canned tuna in this recipe. You can eat this as side dish for rice or stuffing for flour tortilla or to make bread sandwich.

Ingredients
- Tuna ——————————————— 2 cans
- Red Onion ———————————— 1/2 (cut it into small cubes)
- Crushed ginger and garlic ——— 1 tsp
- Grated coconut ————————— 1/4 cup
- Fennel seeds ——————————- 1/2 tsp
- Cumin seeds ——————————- 1/2 tsp
- Chili powder ——————————- 1/2 tsp
- Coriander powder ———————- 1 tsp
- Turmeric powder ———————— 1/4 tsp
- Ground pepper —————————–1/2 tsp
- Cilantro —————————————- a few
- Lemon juice ——————————— 1 tbsp
- Salt to taste
- Cooking oil ———————————– 1 tbsp
How To make
- Pour the tuna in a strainer and give it a quick rinse with running water
- Heat a pan with oil on medium heat
- Then add the fennel seeds and cumin seeds, wait few seconds
- Then add the cut onions, crushed ginger and garlic and a little salt
- Stir for a few minutes until the onion is cooked
- Now add all the spice powders and mix it well
- Then add the tuna and keep stirring
- After a minute add the grated coconut and stir it for couple of minutes
- Finally add the lemon juice and switch off the stove
- Garnish with cilantro and enjoy
Notes:
- Add less salt, because the canned fish is already cooked with salt
